- 1 min read

Environment Canada is forecasting thunderstorms and significant rainfall in the Shetland Creek fire area over the next 48 hours. Due to unstable soils within the Shetland Creek wildfire burn scar, there is an elevated risk of debris flows, landslides, and other slope failures during and following heavy rain events.
Cooks Ferry strongly advises all members and land users to avoid the Shetland Creek fire scar area for the next 48 hours and remain alert to changing conditions.
If you observe any debris flows, landslides, blocked roads, or other hazards in the area, please report them to the Lands Department as soon as possible so appropriate action can be taken.
Please help keep yourself, your family, and others safe by staying out of affected areas until conditions improve.
