The Cook's Ferry Election is an important opportunity for Members to choose the leadership that will represent the community over the next term.

Two (2) On-or-Off Reserve Councillors
Nomination Meeting
Date: October 1, 2026
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Nomination Meeting is where eligible Members may be nominated for the positions of Chief and Councillor in accordance with the Custom Election Rules.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES:
1. Any eligible Elector (Member 18 years and older as of October 24, 2026) shall be eligible to be nominated and to run for the position of Chief or Councillor, except an Elector who in the last 5 years of the Election has been:
a. Convicted of an indictable offense;
b. Convicted of any sexual or assault offense; or
c. Found to have committed a corrupt election practice in connection with a Band Election.
2. No Elector can be a candidate for election as Chief or Councillor unless their nomination is moved and seconded by Electors and such persons including the candidate are present at the Nomination Meeting. Each candidate must also agree to complete and submit a criminal records check.
3. In the event of more than the required number of persons being nominated for Chief and Councillors, the Electoral Officer shall declare that a poll will be held and will name the place and time where such poll shall be taken (the Election Date).
4. If not more than two hours after the commencement of the nomination meeting, the number of persons to serve as Chief and Councillor does not exceed the requisite number, the Chief Electoral Officer shall declare the person or persons so nominated to be duly elected.

Online voting will be available for eligible voters. Please watch for information sent to you by the Chief Electoral Officer.
