Wildfire Evacuation Alert Rescinded

The following Resolution was passed by a quorum of Council. RE: RESCINDMENT - EVACUATION ALERT FOR IR #7 & IR #21, DATED August 11, 2026 WHEREAS the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band is a Band as defined within the meaning of the Indian Act, R.S.C., 1985, c-I-5 and has the inherent right to self-government; and WHEREAS the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band as represented by Chief and Council has Section 35(1) Rights in its Traditional territory shared with the fifteen (15) Bands of the Nlaka’pamux Nation; and WHEREAS the Cook’s Ferry Band Election for Chief and Council of Sunday, November 6, 2022 established Wilfred Paul, Pearl Hewitt, and Tina Draney as elected Councillor and Christine Walkem as the elected as Chief for the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band and further this Council shall serve a term for four years effective December 6, 2022; and WHEREAS the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band had previously placed IR #7 – Kloklowuck and IR #21 - Antko on evacuation alert due to the V10755 - Ainslie Creek Wildfire, and further that IR #7 – Kloklowuck and IR #21 – Antko of the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band has remained under such notice until such date of this band council resolution; and WHEREAS the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band Emergency Operations Centre has deemed secure for the residents of IR #7 -Kloklowuck and IR #21 – Antko and as such not to be under the continued care and support of the Emergency Operations Centre and Indigenous Services Canada; and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the undersigned, Chief and Council of the Cook’s Ferry Indian Band do hereby authorize for the rescinding of all Evacuations Alerts for IR #7 – Kloklowuck and IR #21 – Antko and the rescinding notices be effective August 25, 2026. We, the undersigned Chief and Council of Cook’s Ferry Indian Band, certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution duly passed at a properly convened meeting of Chief and Council held on the date noted above, at which quorum was present. We are pleased to advise members that, pursuant to Band Council Resolution (BCR) Number 2026_08_25_01, the Wildfire Evacuation Alert has been rescinded, effective immediately.


Chief and Council have reviewed the current conditions and determined that the evacuation alert is no longer required. We thank all members for their patience, cooperation and understanding during this time.
