Cedar Harvest & Preparation
​Learning from the Land
The Cedar Harvest & Preparation Workshop serves as the foundation of the Elder-Led Nlaka'pamux Arts & Cultural Learning Program.
Participants will spend time on the land with Elders and Knowledge Keepers learning the cultural significance of cedar, traditional harvesting protocols, and the responsibilities that come with harvesting natural materials. Through hands-on learning, participants will gather cedar bark and roots while learning sustainable harvesting practices that respect the land and traditional teachings.
Materials collected during this workshop will be prepared and stored for use in the Cedar Basketry Workshop later in the program.
